Quinta das Acácias, with its Solar and Capela, dates from 1713, having withstood the devastation caused by the 1755 earthquake, which tragically devastated Lisbon and the entire area around it.

The parish of Azueira, was once very prosperous and important in the political and economic fields, being historical testimony to this, some farms that belonged to prominent and influential members of society at the time, as is the case of Quinta das Acácias, which was an integral part of the vast patrimony of a high military rank, nicknamed Brunette Gorjão, whose widow lived there until the mid-20th century, leaving no descendants.

The manor of the farm and the chapel, are located in front of Largo Brunette, whose name perpetuates the memory of the family of José Brunette Gorjão, grandfather of the last owner of the farm. It maintains the original architecture and features, as well as many materials and constructive elements, inside.
The last owners made some adjustments and restorations, keeping the original design, as well as some ceilings, floors, stonework, sculptures and tiles of the time.
Independent from Solar and Capela, there are leisure and support facilities, such as:

• Rustic house for caretakers, close to the service entrance of the farm (old iron gate), located in a strategic location.
• Stables with “boxes”, harness room, storage for straw and rations, arena with sound system, changing rooms for animals, support facilities for handlers and/or equestrians and “Padock”.

• Unusual well, accessible up to the water level through masonry stairs, with engraving of the year of construction (1713).
• Mine dug in the rock, with spring, whose underground retention basin, has an esplanade protected with railing, providing very pleasant visits, mainly in summer.
• Fountain with bronze sculptures of great beauty and artistic value, with several spouts and fountains.
• Swimming pool, with large spout, surrounding marble floor with non-slip treatment and balconies overlooking stunning landscapes.
• Vast area of ​​the farm is landscaped with lawn and lush vegetation.
• Standing out, between the main gate and the service gate, is the old mill and warehouse, an imposing complex whose size allows it to now be a large lounge for socializing, various games or parties, maintaining a large fireplace-smoke with interior side benches in stone, allowing several people to stay together in healthy living on winter nights and the burning of large logs that burn for days, in addition to the possibility of curing sausages or homemade hams. This set includes a support kitchen, two mezzanine bedrooms, pantries, wine cellars, two bathrooms and an interior connection to the main garage, which can accommodate nine cars.

It is not by chance that the description of the Solar and Capela is left for the end of this visit to the past, as being the newest built area, it deserves special mention for the historical importance that it contains, currently being the ex-libris of the village and, its chapel, place of worship and devotion, especially when it frequently hosts Na. Mrs. of Fátima Peregrina every seventeen years, Nossa Senhora da Nazaré whose Syrian is a devout festive manifestation of the people of the West and of many devotees from all over the country, who take place at this event.

The owners of the Quinta open the Capela to the People on these and other occasions of worship. In addition to communication with the outside, there is a door to a confessional and direct connection to the private quarters.
Continuing the visit, we have five suites, three lounges, huge dining room, dining room, office, 2 normal bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, huge and characteristic old fully adapted kitchen, pantry and laundry area. The master suite opens onto a panoramic terrace / solarium, with a view not only of the entire farm, but also of Serra do Socorro and its Ermida as a battleground, right in front of us (stunning landscapes).

Also noteworthy is the fact that the thresholds, stairs, lintels, some benches and other stonework are in original stone, as well as some floors. Also original are some wooden ceilings and floors, recovered and treated. An interesting detail is that of all the windows that have side benches in stone, characteristic of the time, also called conversation chairs.

Many tile panels with religious motifs and others in use at the time, enrich interior and exterior walls, as well as stone niches and an alabaster, complete the decorative details, presumably also of original construction, some with sculptures.

A lot of history closes this farm, now part of the Union of Parishes of Azueira and Sobral da Abelheira, formerly Azueira, seat of the Municipality of the parishes of Freiria, Gradil, Sobral da Abelheira, Enxara de Cavaleiros, Enxara do Bispo, Milharado, Sapataria and Trucifal, until 1855, with the Paços do Concelho, located precisely in the place of Bandalhoeira, in a corner with the so-called Calçada da Quinta, the road that separates them from Quinta das Acácias.

The historical references around this farm, its families, French invasions, geographic involvement, ethnography and others, are so vast, that it will be worth approaching and deepening them, as a matter of interest or merely out of curiosity.

In addition to strictly residential use, Quinta das Acácias is an excellent place for holding events, especially weddings, which can be celebrated in the chapel itself, which is authorized for this purpose, providing conditions for the "glass of water" service and accommodation for newlyweds and/or guests, not lacking in pleasant spaces, landscaped, with a huge swimming pool, lakes and fountains, in addition to the equestrian and sports side.
